Millennium Tower Boston: construction update
Millennium Tower - Boston's highly anticipated condo tower that is currently under construction - will not have a 13th or 44th floor for superstitious reasons, namely that they have connotations of bad luck and death.
At 685 feet and 60 stories tall, Millennium Tower is set to become the tallest residential building in Boston. How long it will remain Boston's tallest residential tower is unclear: One Dalton, the Back Bay tower with five-star hotel and residences managed by the Four Seasons will soon challenge Millennium for the title. Will we see a 13th or 44th floor at One Dalton? Stay tuned to find out.
Mandarin Oriental in Back Bay: 25 units to be converted to Luxury Condos
25 luxury apartments at the Residences at Mandarin Oriental, Boston will be converted to condominiums and sold early next year.
Leases for the 25 apartments in Back Bay's Mandarin Oriental are not being renewed in order to make them available for sale. The luxury condominiums - comprised of 19 two-bedroom units and six one- or one-plus units - are expected to formally hit the market in January. They will join the 50 condominiums that were sold when the Mandarin opened in 2008.
The residences range from 930-square foot one-bedrooms to 1,625 square feet two-bedrooms. They are located in four floors at the western end of the complex and currently rent for between $4,700 and $17,000 a month. Owners will have access to the Mandarin's five-star amenities, including the 16,000 square foot spa, fitness center, and 24-hour concierge service.
10 additional apartments were developed to fulfill the city's inclusionary zoning policy. Those units will be sold with deed restrictions that require them to remain affordably priced. These apartments currently rent for between $1,400 to $2,000 a month.
With luxury condominium inventory at historic lows, these units will hit the market with impeccable timing.
