Useful Parking Tips in Boston

Boston is in the process of transitioning to a new way of metered parking. Say goodbye to hoarding quarters, frantically searching your bags and vehicles for loose change and putting the stickers on your windows ... mobile payment has arrived!

ParkBoston allows you to pay for metered parking using a mobile phone or web browser. The free ParkBoston app is available for download in the App Store and at Google Play.

As of now, this feature is available in the Back Bay area of Boston. Simply look for the new ParkBoston decals on the meters and for the ParkBoston logo on street signs on the same side of the street on the block where you are parked. Input the specific zone numbers for the area into the app, follow the instructions and choose your payment amount. The meters will not change but the parking attendants will have confirmation or your metered time.

Some of the benefits of ParkBoston:
Receive mobile alerts 10 minutes prior to your time expiring.
Extend your parking time remotely, up to the maximum time allowed per posted signage.

What are the rates?
Regardless of whether you use ParkBoston or the meters, hourly parking rates are $1.25 or $0.25 for 12 minutes. Please note, there is a convenience fee of 15 cents charged for each transaction through ParkBoston.

New Development Spotlight: Pierce Boston

Coming Soon to the Fenway!

Scheduled to open in fall 2017, Pierce Boston will be the newest addition to the Fenway, one of Boston’s most dynamic neighborhoods.

Located at the intersection of Boylston Street and Brookline Avenue, this 30-story glass tower will serve as a gateway to the Fenway area and will allow for a pedestrian link to Fenway Park, Landmark Center, the Emerald Necklace, and the Longwood Medical Area. Samuels & Associates, the developer who has most recently brought us the Van Ness, and Landsea, a China-based real estate company, have entered a joint venture to carry out this highly anticipated project.

Pierce Boston will house both retail and residential units, including 109 condominiums and 240 apartments that will range from studios to one-, two- and three-bedroom units. News of the ground floor retailers has not yet been released. For those looking for parking, the project will directly connect to the Trilogy underground garage. Pierce Boston is also a short walk from the Fenway stop on the MBTA Green Line D branch, various bus routes and approximately half a mile to the transit hub in Kenmore Square.

Wrapped in a curtain wall designed by Arquitectonica, a world-famous architectural firm based in Miami, FL, the building is designed to maximize 360-degree views of Boston, Cambridge, the Charles River, and the Emerald Necklace. Lifestyle amenities will include an outdoor terrace and pool located on the roof level that will offer sweeping views of the Emerald Necklace park system.

Drones represent a unique way to display properties in today's market, as David Murdock of Campion and Company is well aware. Murdock is co-listing an undeveloped 11.57-acre, two-island property in Scituate with Tracy Campion. View the listing for 'Great Rock' and 'Little Rock' islands here.

"We figured the best way to market the islands is with an aerial drone," said Murdock in an article just published by the Boston Globe. Murdock created the video with Matthew Murphy, president of Boston Virtual Imaging, not only to showcase the expanse of the seaside offering, but also because he knew that the aerial views would be instrumental in helping buyers get a sense of spectacular views once a house is completed on the site.
